The National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE) is a Costa Rican institution dedicated to keeping the country “afloat” during an emergency. Costa Rica is a country of volcanoes, rivers, and seas, and the CNE is always at the forefront of dealing with emergencies caused by this type of natural agent. However, during the emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CNE has had to face an emergency like no other, in which the entire territory and population of Costa Rica is at risk and must, therefore, be attended to. The CNE working body is made up of committees in each canton of the country. When an emergency occurs, the municipal emergency committees (CME) of the affected cantons are activated. It is the first time in CNE history that the country’s 90 CMEs have been activated, today more than ever all of Costa Rica is working to keep the country “afloat.”
Since August 2019 I have been in charge of the photographic coverage of the CNE.
