Hace algunos años estaba a seis cursos de graduarme de química pura cuando cambié los tubos de ensayo por bandejas y soluciones de revelado y me sumergí en la fotografía. Desde ese momento ¡no hubo vuelta atrás!
I was just six courses shy of graduating with a degree in chemistry when I abandoned test tubes for trays of developing solutions and plunged headlong into photography. And I haven’t looked back since!
En el año 2007, temprano en mi carrera, el Colegio de Periodistas de Costa Rica me entregó el mayor premio en el país para la fotografía de prensa, el Premio Mario Roa, por una fotografía tomada durante el desalojo de un precario.
Desde el 2007 he trabajado como fotógrafa independiente, dividiendo mi tiempo entre fotografía de prensa, fotografía de retrato, fotografía de naturaleza y fotografía comercial. Además dediqué muchos años a ser líder en tours de fotografía. Algunas de las publicaciones que han usado mis fotografías son The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Miami Herald, National Geographic Adventure, Reuters, Associated Press y EFE.
Como fotógrafa apasionada, continúo buscando y nutriendo relaciones profesionales con clientes existentes y nuevos. En mi trabajo predomina la calidad, la integridad y la ética laboral.

Dominio el español, inglés y francés, y he viajado por las Américas y Europa. Estoy en constante busqueda de nuevas experiencias. Una de ellas incluyó un año de formación universitaria en periodismo en la Universidad del Estado de San Francisco, en San Francisco, California, entre el 2011 y el 2012. La Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa me otorgó en el 2010 una beca para cubrir los gastos de esta formación.
Amo la fotografía, pero también disfruto de enseñar fotografía a otros. Con el tiempo he descubierto formas creativas de hacer tangibles conceptos abstractos de la fotografía, y disfruto ver la cara de mis estudiantes cuando con mi ayuda logran entender algo.

I love to photograph, but I also enjoy teaching photography to others. I have figured out clever ways to turn abstract concepts into tangible practices, and I find joy in my students' facial expressions when I help them understand and learn.
I am fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and I have traveled throughout the Americas and Europe. I am constantly looking for new experiences. One of those adventures was attending the San Francisco State University in California between 2011 and 2012, where I had advanced photojournalism, multimedia and news writing training. In 2010 the Inter American Press Association awarded me a scholarship to cover the cost of that training.
In 2007, early on my career, Costa Rica’s Journalists’ Association awarded me the nation’s top prize for press photography, the Premio Mario Roa, for a photo taken during the eviction and destruction of a shantytown.
Since December of 2007, I have worked as a freelance photographer, dividing my time between photojournalism, portrait photography, nature photography, and commercial photography. Also, I dedicated many years to be a photography tour leader. Some of the news outlets that have published my work are The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Miami Herald, National Geographic Adventure, Reuters, Associated Press, and EFE.

Desde el 2018 he dedicado parte de mi pasión y creatividad en la gestión y producción de un documental interactivo sobre envejecimiento saludable llamado ``Vivir es para toda la vida.``
Since 2018 I have dedicated a piece of my passion and creativity to produce and develop an interactive documentary about healthy aging called ``Living is life long.``
