I’M A PHOTOJOURNALIST

Mi primer trabajo como fotógrafo fue en 2004 en el diario La Republica en Costa Rica. Mi trabajo era medio tiempo en el departamento comercial. Todavía estaba estudiando fotografía y no sabía exactamente qué iba a hacer una vez que terminara.

Pero fue en La República, al observar y hablar con Marco Monge, el fotógrafo y editor, que finalmente decidí que quería ser fotoperiodista.

Antes había otras personas muy influyentes a mi alrededor que también me alentaron y me ayudaron a descubrir el fotoperiodismo, pero no fue hasta que Marco comenzó a darme tareas editoriales que me di cuenta de lo mucho que me gustaba.

Miro hacia atrás en el tiempo desde entonces y me siento muy feliz con mi decisión y mis logros, pero no puedo esperar a que el futuro me traiga más desafíos y descubrimientos.

My first job as a photographer was in 2004 at La Republica daily newspaper in Costa Rica. I had a part time job in the commercial department. I was still in school, and I did not know exactly what I was going to do once I was finished.

But it was at La República, by watching and talking to Marco Monge, the editorial photographer and editor, that I finally decided I wanted to be a photojournalist.

I had other very influential people around me before who also encouraged me and helped me discover photojournalism, but it wasn’t until Marco started giving me editorial assignments that I realized how much I liked it.

I look back at time past since then and I feel really happy with my decision and my accomplishments, but I can not wait for the future to bring me more challenges and discoveries.
