PHOTOJOURNALISM WORK

Mi vida como fotoperiodista inició en el semanario en inglés The Tico Times, una publicación basada en Costa Rica con más de 60 años de hacer cobertura en Costa Rica y Centroamérica. En “El Tico” trabajé como su fotógrafa de planta por 3 años.

Durante mi tiempo ahí, comencé a colaborar con la agencia internacional de noticias Reuters. Trabajé para reuters como la segunda fotógrafa para Costa Rica por cinco años, y luego como freelance para Associated Press (AP) por un año.

Estos son algunos ejemplos de mi trabajo en esas organizaciones de noticia y muchas otras.

My photojournalist life started at the weekly The Tico Times, a more than 60-year-old English-language newspaper based in Costa Rica. I worked as their staff photographer for 3 years.

During that time, I started working for the newswire agency Reuters. I worked as second photographer for Reuters for five years, and latter on as freelance for Associated Press (AP) for one year.

Here are some samples of my work at those news organizations and many others.

THE TICO TIMES

Como fotógrafa de planta del semanario, tuve que realizar coberturas de todo tipo. Sin embargo, siempre aprecié la oportunidad de proponer, gestionar y fotografiar diferentes ensayos fotográficos documentales.

As staff photographer for the weekly, I had to do all kinds of assignments. But I always appreciated the opportunity to pitch, produce and photograph different kinds of documentary photo essays.

REUTERS NEWS AGENCY

Trabajé como segunda fotógrafa en Costa Rica para Reuters de Agosto del 2005 a Abril del 2010. Mi trabajo para la agencia incluyó cobertura de eventos culturales, como conciertos; actividades políticas como dos elecciones presidenciales en Costa Rica, una elección presidencial en Nicaragua y la visita de Joe Biden a Costa Rica; cobertura de algunos sucesos como un incendio en la sección de cuidados intensivos de un hospital en San José donde murieron 9 personas; y coberturas deportivas como partidos de futbol.

I worked as second photographer for Reuter in Costa Rica from August 2005 to April 2010. My assignments for the agency included covering many cultural events, like concert; a lot of political event including two Costa Rican presidential elections, one presidential election in Nicaragua and the visit of Joe Biden in Costa Rica; some spot news like a fire that destroyed the intensive care section of a hospital in San Jose killing 9 people; and international soccer matches.

Trabajé para la agencia de noticias Associated Press International en Costa Rica de Abril del 2010 a Julio del 2011. Algunas de mis asignaciones incluyeron la cobertura del traspaso de poderes de la primera mujer presendente de Costa Rica.

I worked for Associated Press International Newswire Service in Costa Rica from April 2010 to July 2011. Here is some samples of my work that included covering the inauguration of the first woman president of Costa Rica.

Elder magazine publicó un artículo en el 2007 sobre Estadounidenses viviendo en Costa Rica como pensionados y me contrató para realizar la fotografía.

Elder Magazine did an article in 2007 on Americans that retire in Costa Rica and they hire me to do the photography for the article.

SCHOLASTICS

Un día muy divertido fotografiando a tres hermanos en el bosque tropical de Cosa Rica para Scholastics. Los hermanos realizan videos educativos sobre biodiversidad.

A fun one day shoot in the Rainforest for Scholastic’s article about three brothers in Costa Rica doing educational videos about biodiversity.

Mi trabajo también ha sido publicado en muchas revistas nacionales e internacionales.

My work has also been published in national and international magazines.
