Festival Nacional de las Artes – FNA – National Arts Festival
This year, the National Arts Festival travels through old roads. Siquirres and Turrialba, in the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica, are the two temporary homes of hundreds of artists and handscrafters coming from all over the country and even some from outside its boundaries. United by what once was a very active rail road, this two communities share the story of an agricultural Costa Rica, and now will share the memory of the IX National Arts Festival.
It all started Friday March 18th, with activities every day that went from 10am till 10:30pm. I have been a humble witness to this festivity at Siquirres, and with the help of my camera, I have been trying to document all the wonders that have happened here. I have not seen it all, but I did see enough to applaud the effort of dozens behind the organization and other hundreds that show their faces to bring a smile or a tear to the people of Siquirres.
Next you will find some of my favorite photographs.
I have been teaching so much lately that I even started repiting myself as I photograph: “….. ok, white background, overexpose by a bunch …. now the sunset it’s not good enough, change the white balance …. I need a higher speed, so I need to raise my ISO …… ” WOW… I might be going crazy! But, since I had that on my mind, this time I will give you some of the technical stuff for some photographs… But you will also get some stories, because I enjoy sharing those more!
