Centenarians – Centenarios

I have been working on a photo essay about Costa Ricans that turn over 100 years, since my Great Grandmother did so. I don’t have that many people portrayed, considering that its been 5 years since Abuela Carmen turned 100 and also considering that Costa Rica has one of the blue zones, where people “easily” live that long!
Nonetheless, I keep on trying to find them and photograph them, whenever I have time and money to do so…
I proposed the story to an Global Post, an ” Internet journalism site devoted exclusively to international news and related content”. And they liked it and published today!

I hope you wont be offended, because the proposal will be me asking for help… This is the story I hope to turn into a book, soon enough. I will try to get financing by using Kickstarted.com, and when I do, will probably knock on your door…

Desde que mi bisabuela cumplió los 100 años, tengo como proyecto fotografiar costarricenses que hayan cumplido los 100 años o más. No he fotografiado a tanta gente, especialmente considerando que Abuela Carmen cumplió los 100 hace 5 años y que Costa Rica tiene una de las zonas azules, donde la gente “fácilmente” vive tanto tiempo!
Sin embargo, sigo buscándolos y fotografíandoles, cada vez que tengo el tiempo y el dinero para hacerlo…

En post anteriores mencioné que tenía una propuesta/idea para ustedes…
Espero que no se ofendan, porque la propuesta soy yo pidiendo ayuda… Esta es una historia que espero, en un mediano plazo, se convierta en un libro. Trataré de lograr el financiamiento utilizando Kickstarted.com, y cuando lo haga, tocaré a sus puertas…
