Photography dreams. Sueños fotográficos

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to help a friend from California get the pictures he wanted from Costa Rica. Ken had seen the photos taken by a University professor during a tour organized, for his class, by Foto Verde Tours, and he wanted to have them too! He wanted butterflies, frogs and maybe a Hummingbird.
I have been working with Foto Verde Tours for over 2 years now. What I love about what we do, it s that we make “dreams come true”. Not a joke! when you are a passionate photographer, getting the picture you want “has no price”…
We are so proud of what we do! And we are now working really hard to propose you all very exiting tours for 2011. We are thinking advance digital photography, we are thinking nature, we are thinking culture, coffee, hummingbirds. I will let you know when the tours are ready for you to sign up! 😉
But back to the workshop with Ken.
He had only 3 days to come to Costa Rica, and because of traveling time, it was hard to make sure he will get everything he wanted, that’s why I asked him to prioritize. Frogs were number one and butterflies number two.
We ended up having a little photo “class” about macro photography for half a day (not that he needed the instruction, but the reminder is always good) and then we spent the rest of the day photographing at a butterfly garden.
It was so much fun! I was not paying much attention to my photography, so concentrated on Kens great photographs, but I still got something good to show you.

Hace un par de meses tuve la oportunidad de ayudarle a un amigo de California lograr las fotos que tanto quería de Costa Rica: Ken vio las fotos que tomo un profesor universitario cuando viajo con sus alumnos en un tour organizado por Foto Verde Tours, y el debía tener esas fotos! El quería mariposas, ranas y tal vez un colibrí.
Después de poco mas de dos años de trabajar con Foto Verde Tours, puedo decir que lo que me encanta de lo que hacemos es que tratamos de “hacer los sueños una realidad”. Es cierto! Cuando uno es un fotógrafo apasionado, lograr la fotografía soñada “no tiene precio”.
En Foto Verde Tours estamos muy orgullosos de lo que hacemos. Ya estamos trabajando bien fuerte para proponerles una serie de tours muy interesantes para el 2011. Estamos pensando en fotografía digital avanzada, estamos pensando en naturaleza, en cultura, en café, en colibrís. Los mantendré informados de cuando están listos para que se inscriban! 😉
Pero bueno, volvamos al taller de Ken.
El solo tenia 3 días para venir a Costa Rica, y debido a las distancias, era muy difícil lograr todas las fotografías que el deseaba, entonces le pedí que priorizara. Ranas fueron la prioridad numero 1 y mariposas la numero 2.
El primer día del taller se dividió en una pequeña clase de fotografía macro (no es que el necesitara la instrucción, pero los recordatorios siempre son buenos) y el resto del día fotografiamos en un jardín de mariposas.
Fue tan divertido! Yo no puse mucha atención a mi fotografía, tan concentrada estaba en las excelentes imágenes de Ken, pero aun así tengo algo bueno que mostrarles.



The next day we traveled to one of Foto Verde Tours secret spots for frogs and snakes photography. In here we put the big guns out and used multiple flash techniques. The entire day we photographed many different kind of frogs and snakes and a couple of really cool lizards. Here are the ones I’m more proud of.

El día siguiente viajamos a uno de los lugares secretos de Foto Verde Tours para fotografías de ranas y culebras. Aquí sacamos el armamento pesado y trabajamos con técnicas de flash múltiple. Fotografiamos durante todo el día diferentes tipos de ranas, culebras y un par de lagartijas muy hermosas. Estas son las imágenes que mas me enorgullecen.




Kent tiene aun que enseñarme sus fotos favoritas, pero al menos me dijo que las impresiones que hizo de ellas se ven maravillosas en su oficina! Si yo logre lo que ya vieron, imagínese lo que logro él!
Pero bueno, una vez mas quiero recordarles que el 2011 sera un muy buen año para viajar con Foto Verde Tours, déjenos hacer sus sueños fotográficos una realidad!
(No les parece que yo debería trabajar en publicidad! jajajajaja!)

Ken has still to show me his favorite ones, but he did say the prints he made with them look awesome at his office! If I got what you just saw, I bet his are even better!
