Galápagos, segundo día, second day.
My second day in Galapagos was a very interesting one, on a personal level.
First, I forgot to change the time on my alarm, consequently I got up one hour earlier than I had to, and not only that, I woke up two of our tour friends, Carole and Jordan, also one hour earlier (I was there alarm clock) But well, this ended up been something good, because I got to see a marvelous sunrise, something that I tried to do for the rest of my trip, a great way to start the day!
Then, I, for the first time in my life, did some real snorkeling, and my inexperience got me to drink a lot of salt water which made me real sick latter that day. Let me tell you that the photos you have already seen of me surrounded by Sea Lions, precede a very sick lady and a very awful image. BUT, I got to swim with sea turtles and sea lions and lots of fish that day, and this particular event did not stop me from snorkeling every chance I had after that.

Mi segundo día en Galápagos fue muy interesante, a nivel personal.
Primero, se me olvidó cambiar la hora en mi despertador, consecuentemente me levanté una hora antes de lo necesario, y no sólo eso, también levanté más temprano a dos amigos en el tour, Carole y Jordan (yo era su alarma) Pero bueno, esto resultó no ser tan malo, porque puede ver un amanecer maravilloso, algo que traté de hacer todos los días que siguieron del viaje, una excelente forma de empezar el día!
Luego, por la primera vez en mi vida, hice snorkeling de verdad, y mi inexperiencia me llevó a tomar mucha agua lo cual me hizo enfermarme bastante luego. Déjenme decirles que las fotos que ya vieron de mi rodeada por lobos de mar precede a una mujer muy enferma y a una imagen muy desagradable. PERO, tuve la oportunidad de nadar con tortugas de mar, leones marinos y muchos peces, y esta situación particular no impidió que aprovechara cada oportunidad de snorkeling que tuvimos en los días por venir.
Not only I got to see the sunset, but I got a good excuse to use ISO 3200 in my 5DMarkII, needed the speed because the boat was moving!. Practically no noise, I love it! / No sólo pude ver el amanecer, pero también puede probar el ISO 3200 en mi 5DMarkII, necesitaba la velocidad porque el bote se estaba moviendo! Prácticamente nada de ruido, me encanta!.
This day we visited two different spots in the Islands.
First we went to South Plazas. Right at the dock of this island we saw a baby sea lion and lots of Swallow-Tail Gulls. This Island is very small, you can see from one side to the other from anywhere, but it was magical to be in such a small place with so much fauna and flora. My favorite picture of a land iguana I took in this place, as well as the best picture of a swallow-tail gull.
But I also enjoyed doing little bit of landscaping. Also, since I have my small forest of Cactus at home, it was very nice to see the giant cactus. This is another thing that I did not do before leaving for Galápagos, and it is to study a bit about the flora I was going to see. Coming from a Rainforest country, to be in such an open space and to see so many animals was very odd but wonderful.

Este día visitamos dos lugares diferentes en las islas.
Primero fuimos a Plazas Sur. Justo en el muelle de la isla vimos un bebé de Lobo Marino y muchas Gaviotas de Cola Bifurcada. Esta isla es bien pequeña, se puede ver de un lado a otro de la isla desde cualquier lugar, pero era mágico estar en un lugar tan pequeño y con tanta fauna y flora. Mi foto favorita de una iguana de tierra la tomé acá, también mi favorita de la gaviota de cola bifurcada.
También disfruté mucho haciendo fotografía de paisaje. También, como tengo un pequeño bosque de cactus en la casa, fue muy lindo ver los cactus gigantes. Esta es otra cosa para la que no me preparé antes de ir en el viaje, y es conocer un poco sobre la flora que iba a ver. Viniendo de un país de Bosque Lluvioso, estar en un lugar tan abierto y ver tantos animales fue muy extraño pero maravilloso.

Después de hacer snorkeling en la bahía de Santa Fe, visitamos la isla de Santa Fe.
En la isla fue cuando me enfermé y entonces no hice el recorrido, pero si me pasé un buen rato “pansa p’abajo” fotografiando los lobos de mar. La oportunidad de fotografiar fue única, pero creo q no logré cosas tan espectaculares como deseaba, pero bueno, juzguen ustedes!.

After doing snorkeling in the Santa Fe Bay, we visited the Santa Fe Island.
In the island I got really sick, so I did not walk around, but I had time to “lay on my belly” photographing the sea lions. The photo opportunity was unique, but I think I did not use it to its maximum potential, but well, you can judge yourselves.

This photo had the potential of been a magnificent one: the 3 lions looking the same direction, the perspective, the position of them, but, it think I chose wrong where to focus and I think I did crop the guy on the right a bit too much. / Esta foto tenía el potencial de convertirse en una fotos maravillosa: los tres lobos viendo al mismo lugar, la perspectiva, la posición de los 3, pero creo q elegí mal a dónde enfocar, y creo q corté al chico de la derecha un poquito más de la cuenta.
Before getting to the island we sail a bit around the rocky formation where we saw many animales (like this one). This photo is not perfectly sharp, I thing the boat vibration added to much motion to my photo. / Antes de llegar a tierra fuimos a navegar un poco cerca de las formaciones rocosas donde vimos animales como este. Esta foto no está perfectamente nítida porque la vibración del motor le agregó bastante movimiento a la imagen.

This is the other. Always workind with small depth of field, I really like that. / Este es el otro. Siempre trabajando con poca profundidad de campo, me gusta mucho eso.
