Galapagos. Isla – Española – Island.
I loved the signs in the Islands, it says stop right next to a very high cliff! / Me encantaban los carteles en las islas. Dice "alto" justo antes de un acantilado muy alto!
The third day on our trip in Galapagos we visited Española Island. This is the oldest and the southernmost island in the chain. Because of this particularity, many interesting things happens with the wildlife in this island. For example, Marine Iguanas here have a reddish color in their skin, something you do not see in other islands, and during matting season their coloration is greenish, mostly because of the food they eat here. This is the only island where, during the right season, visitors can see Waved Albatross, when they come to nest.
The morning we spent walking on the west side of the Island, Punta Suarez. It was a very hot morning, and even though it was not hard, because of the heat and the fact that I had skipped to meals, I was very tired at the end of the walk.
We got to see many marine iguanas and a lot of birds. One of the highlights of the morning was when I was photographing a lava lizard and it let me get so close with my macro, that I got scared, the little thing did not seam to care at all.
In the early afternoon we were supposed to do some snorkeling, me, because of the experience the day before, decided to stay and sleep… not bad at all!

El tercer día de nuestro viaje la pasamos en la Isla Española. Esta es la isla más vieja de la cadena y la que se encuentra más al sur. Debido a esta particularidad, muchas cosas interesantes pasan con su vida salvaje. Por ejemplo, las iguanas marinas acá tienen una coloración rojiza en su piel, algo que no se ve en ninguna otra isla, y durante la época de apareamiento la coloración es verdosa, principalmente causado por la alimentación. Además, esta es la única isla donde se pueden ver los pájaros alvatross, cuando vienen a anidar.
La mañana la pasamos caminando en el extremo oeste de la isla, en Punta Suárez. Fue una mañana super caliente, y aunque la caminata no era dura, debido a que me perdí de dos tiempos de comida, estaba super cansada al final de la caminata.
Pudimos ver muchas iguanas marinas y muchos tipos diferentes de pájaros. Uno de los momentos emocionantes de la mañana fue cuando logré fotografiar una lagartija de lava super cerca con mi macro, tan cerca que yo misma me asusté, la pequeña cosas parecía no importarle.
En la primera parte de la tarde se suponía que debíamos hacer un poco de snorkeling, pero debido a la experiencia del día anterior, decidí quedarme y dormir un rato… nada mal!

Esta foto, créanlo o no, fue tomada con mi macro. Esto es lo más cerca que jamás he estado de una lagartija con mi cámara, fue increíble. Es una lagartija de lava. / This photo, believe it or not, was taken with my macro lens. This is the closest I have ever been to a lizard with my camera, it was amazing. It is a Lava Lizard.

En la tarde visitamos la parte este de la isla, Bahía Garner. Una vez más nos encontramos en una playa paradisíaca repleta de lobos de mar.
Como el día anterior, traté de fotografiarlos de diferente manera, y esta vez decidí cargar sólo mi angular mientras caminaba por la playa. Estoy bien contenta con los resultados. Sólo al final saqué mi macro, de nuevo y me acerqué cuanto pude a estos bellos y bellas durmientes.

In the afternoon we visited the west side of the island, Bahía Garner. Once more we found ourselves in a piece of paradise on earth, filled with sea lions.
Like the day before, I wanted to photograph them in a different way, but this time I decided to bring only my wide angle while walking on the beach. I am pretty happy with the results. Only at the end I took my macro lens out, and again I tried to get as close as possible to all these sleeping beauties.
All the visitors did nos stop this baby sea lion from eating. / Todos los visitantes no hicieron que este bebé de lobo de mar dejara de comer.

I have decided that, in my next life, I would like to be a sea lion, they only live between 10-14 years and the sleep all day and go hunting at night, and then sleep some more. / He decidido que, en mi próxima vida, me gustaría ser un lobo de mar, para dormir todo el día, en la noche cazar un poco y luego seguir durmiendo.

Dear Mo, you cant be a sea lion. There is some sparkle inside you that wouldn’t allow you to sleep so much so you wold be a very disturbing for the others in the crowd 🙂
