Totalmente abierto. Wide open.
Estos días estoy de viaje con un grupo de la Universidad de Indiana, Pensilvania. Ya visitamos la zona del Arenal, y ahora estamos en Sarapiquí. Los últimos días del tour disfrutaremos del Pacífico Central.
En el tour nos acompaña un profesor de fotografía de la universidad. Durante su instrucción dió una recomendación que damos todas aquellas personas que enseñamos este arte: cuando se toma la fotografía de un paisaje queremos tener la máxima profundidad de campo posible porque es importante tener detalle en la mayor cantidad de planos posibles.
Y yo me puse a pensar, qué tal si no, qué tal si uso más bien la menor profundidad de campo posible, para tener detalle SÓLO en un plano.
Las sigueintes imágenes fueron tomadas en f4 (porque tenía el duplicador 1.4x en el lente 70-200mm) y f2.8 (con un macro 100mm). Las velocidades e ISO respectivas fueron 1/800, ISO 100 y 1/2000, ISO 160. Como pueden ver, pude haber mejorado mi profundidad de campo muchísimo, si hubiese querido pero no fue así.
¿Qué opinan? ¿debí de?

This days I’m traveling with a group of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We have been already in the Arenal area and now we are in Sarapiquí. The last days of the trip we will be in the Central Pacific area.
A photography teacher came with the group. During one of his instructions he recommended the same thing that we all do when teaching photography: when doing a landscape we want the biggest depth of field possible, so we can have detail in more planes.
And then I thought, what if not, what if I use the biggest aperture possible, the smallest depth of field possible, so I have ONLY one plane that looks sharp.
The fallowing photos where taken on f4 (because I had a 1.4x extender on my 70-200mm) and f2.8 (with my 100mm macro). The speed and ISO for each one were 1/800, ISO 100 and 1/2000, ISO 160. Like you can see, I could have improved my depth of field by a lot if I wanted to, but I didn’t.
