¡Colibrís! Hummingbirds!

El martes pasado dediqué mi día, junto a Greg y Jose, mis compañeros de Foto Verde Tours, a practicar y aprender más sobre fotografía de colibrís. La foto de arriba fue de las primeras que tomé… nada mal verdad?
Vaya que Greg sabe mucho! Si las fotos que ven en esta publicación les impresionan, pues entonces tienen que ir a ver el trabajo de Greg. Ya son muchos los años que ha dedicado a perfeccionar una técnica muy especial de fotografía de colibrís, con una filosofía que nos identifica a todos en este grupo: lograr una toma tan perfecta como sea posible, para utilizar Photoshop al mínimo.
Todas las imágenes que ven únicamente fueron retocadas de la siguiente forma: un corte de las orillas sobrantes, porque como el tamaño del colibrí varía mucho, aveces quedan muchos espacios “vacíos” alrededor. Y luego, simplemente le aumente un poquito los negros para saturar el color. Todo esto hecho en Lightroom, nunca abrí el Photoshop.
Quiero aprovechar para recordarles que Foto Verde Tours tendrá dos fechas en el 2010 donde practicaremos esta técnica, junto a otras super interesantes e igual de divertidas. Si tienen tiempo en Mayo, pueden venir y viajar con Greg. Si tienen tiempo en Julio, pueden venir y viajar conmigo.

It is amazing how much Greg knows! If the photos in this post impress you, then you should go see Greg’s work. He has spent many years practicing and perfecting a very special technique to photograph hummingbirds, with the same philosophy we all have in this group: to get the most perfect photograph from the shot, so we have to use Photoshop as little as possible.
All the images you see here have only gone through this process: crop the edges a little to get rid of the “empty” space, because the size of the hummingbirds are so different that sometimes you end up with lots of “empty” space. Then, I added more black to saturate a little the colors. All of that I did in Lightroom, never even opened Photoshop.
I want to remind you all that Foto Verde Tours will have two tours in 2010 where we will practice this technique, along with others as interesting and entertaining. If you have time in May, then travel with Greg. If you have time in July, then you could come and spend some time with me.
